Professional Courtesy, where did you go?

A bit a go we made a post about common courtesy, however today we are going to talk about Professional Courtesy. I have started getting into photography and I enjoy playing with my camera, and taking photos. I am working on my portfolio trying to build it with a mixture of good shots, and killer photos. The other day I was out at the race track and I was photographing the superbikes and we were standing in one of the corners trying to get some good shots, and between us and the track was a pit for people with the press pass. I was setting up to get the perfect shot, and these “professional” photographers always came up and stood in my way.
It’s really irritating, that these “professional” photographers would always get in my way. A couple things that really made it irritating for me are:

1, I paid for the ticket. I spent my hard earned money for the ticket to get those shots. I’m sure they didn’t have to pay for their ticket, and I’m sure they are getting paid for their shots. They aren’t using their hard earned money for the photos.
2, I bet my shots are just as good as those “professional” photographers shots, if not better. At least they would be if they weren’t standing in my way.
3, I’m sure when they were first starting out in the profession they would have a problem with people getting in their shot, and I”m sure they weren’t too happy about that.

All I ask is for a little bit of Professional Courtesy, is that too much to ask for? And I will do my best to stay out of your way. I know what it’s like to get a picture with someone in your shot. It’s a pain.

Escape Motorsports sucks!!!

I just bought a 2004 Yamaha YFZ 450 I have been spending time, and money getting it ready for the altitude change, and ready to go to the sand dunes. I was getting it put back together, and the clutch cable busted. I called Escape Motorsports in Provo UT and I asked them if they had the cable for my bike. They said yes they had one, and it was $20.00. I left to go get it, and I got there and they did not have it. I was a little annoyed. After asking around they found out that they looked it up for the yz450F dirt bike, which is similar, but still not the same.

They offered to over-night it for $55.00 I said “that is BULL SHIT!!!” I realize they made a mistake, and I understand, but they just screwed up my time schedule, because I have other things to do. The way they sounded was that I had nothing to do but wait for the clutch cable to come in.

I will never go back to Escape Motorsports. The parts counter is a joke, they don’t know what they are doing, and they are over-priced. They are rude, and they are slow.

I have always been impressed with South Valley Motorsports. They are always courteous, knowledgeable. quick and easy to work with. I bought my first quad from them and they were really good to work with. I will always be going to South Valley Motorsports. You can find their website at: http://southvalleymotorsports.com You can go there, and find what you need.

Common Courtesy Is Not That Common

It’s interesting how the focal point has changed from a sense of community to self-preservation.

Take, for example, the jackass merger.  You know who I’m talking about.  When two lanes go into one, and traffic slows to a crawl, most people are trying to get over ahead of time to ensure they get over without causing a traffic jam.  There are kind people that will wait to let people go ahead of them, but then there are always several cars flying up  the now empty lane, desperate to get as far ahead before having to merge.  And then they get up right against the merge sign and slap on their blinker, waiting for some kind soul to let them in.

Fat chance that person is me.

Back in the day the whole town would get together for a barn-raising.  These people didn’t get anything out of it, they took off an entire day from the work that needed to be done around their own farm, and all just to help a neighbor out.  Because it’s the right thing to do.  That’s fantastic.  Sure, in times of emergency humanity has a great way of rallying around and providing service.  But what about every other day?  The person who is giving you aide in your time of need now may very well be the person you flipped off in traffic yesterday.

Obviously, not everyone is the jackass merger, and that’s fantastic, but I would like to return to a time when The Golden Rule ruled, a handshake might as well have been a notarized document, and your word really was your bond.

There are just too many people trying to fly ahead in life and push their way into success.  While the kind soul behind them is polite enough to make room for them.  There is a vast people in this country more than happy to mooch off the hard work of others.  They live in government subsidized housing, they take welfare and food stamps, receive Sub for Santa gifts, don’t pay taxes and certainly don’t have jobs.

They are ruining the purity of charity.  They are spoiling the act of a good deed when they take something that very well could have gone to someone really in need.

And to those people I say, you don’t deserve the air your breathe.
